The Denver Broncos have reason to believe Wes Welker's third concussion in the past calendar year will not put the star slot receiver's career in jeopardy.

According to NFL Media's Omar Ruiz on Monday's edition of NFL Total Access, there is a lot of optimism inside the Broncos' building about Welker's condition.

Coach John Fox told reporters earlier in the day that Welker is "feeling good" and will be back out on the field "when he's deemed healthy."

Asked if he had received an indications Welker is considering retirement, Fox replied, "That's not been brought up at all. You'd have to talk to Wes. I didn't sense that."

The Broncos staff plans to approach Welker's status "one day at a time."

The vibe out of Denver is that Welker has avoided the worst-case scenario that had football observers concerned immediately following Saturday night's hit from D.J. Swearinger.

There's even hope that Welker will make it back for the season opener.
